ABOUT
I am a metalsmith living in rural bushland near Whaingaroa Raglan, Aotearoa New Zealand.
I love birds, trees, and gardening. My crafting stems from my wish to create and share.
I’m drawn to copper, lace and glass and enjoy both creating from scratch and upcycling old found objects... either on my own or incorporating your ideas for a unique piece with special meaning.
Focussing mainly on earrings, pendants and cuffs, I draw from my environment to create little pieces of joy to share. I’m happy to co-create too. I’ve turned a grandmother's necklace into new wearable pieces. I’ve created pieces of just the shape and size that clients have hunted for but had not yet found.
Preserved fruits and jams last only so long...
Children grow out of clothes...
But a great pair of earrings seems to bring long-lasting pleasure.
I don’t feel fully dressed without earrings, even if it’s just me at home they are an important part of my sense of readiness for the day and bring a sense of joy to me.
So now, in my little slice of Kiwi paradise, I’m recycling, sourcing, creating, and sharing the joy.
I'm Jan at Metal Moon.
