Time to Play

After a crazy couple of weeks, months (the whole year!) it’s been lovely to just play today. I bought some leather for another project and I’ve enjoyed the calm that comes with no pressure to produce, just discovering what the material can do. So I’ve been playing.

We’ve seen much of two grandchildren lately and I’m reminded of the therapeutic calm that comes with being absorbed completely in play. As adults we tend to lose sight of the benefit of these quiet creative musing times ... collecting coloured leaves, swishing water about, finding faces in trees and clouds, and just generally doodling. I like to have the time to let the ideas bubble up without judgement. I don’t tend to meditate in the usual structured sense but I love to play... it seems to serve a similar purpose for me.

With winter coming I’m looking forward to cooler days and the changing leaves.

Some play time and the thought of autumn colours inspired my new metal and leather leaf earrings this week.

I found a lovely scope for creativity in the quiet of play.
